Our Core Stance: Guidance Not Prediction, Reflection Not Decision
How a BaZi tool is used determines whether it supports or constrains the person. 御殿命理 · 御传承's core stance is to let BaZi serve a reader's autonomous knowing and choosing, rather than the reverse.
1. Eight-Character Core
Our core philosophy condenses to eight characters:
引导非预言,反思非决策。 Guidance, not prediction; reflection, not decision.
- Guidance — BaZi is a 'guiding conversation' that helps you see your energy structure, rhythm, and tension points more clearly.
- Not prediction — BaZi is not a 'prediction machine'; it will not tell you 'X must happen' or 'this person must be that way'.
- Reflection — BaZi's best use is as a 'reflective scaffold' — helping articulate what you inwardly already know.
- Not decision — the authority and responsibility for any decision belong to you; the practitioner does not decide for you.
2. What We Do
One, accurate chart calculation — based on verified algorithms (including true solar time, precise solar-term boundaries), producing reliable foundational chart data.
Two, classical-source reading — all readings trace to 渊海子平, 三命通会, 滴天髓, 子平真诠, 穷通宝鉴 and other canonical sources, avoiding ungrounded improvisation.
Three, contemporary-life interpretation — translating ancient terms into present-day language (Resource Stars = learning / support system / knowledge resource; Output Stars = creation / expression channel) so BaZi has real conversation with modern life.
Four, reflective consultation experience — the aim is that you leave with 'clearer self-knowledge', not 'greater dependence on a master'.
Five, bilingual service — BaZi expression is in its mother-tongue Chinese; modern dialogue in English. Serving multilingual Chinese readers.
3. What We Do Not Do
One, no specific-event prediction — 'X will happen on date Y' over-reaches the tool's reasonable scope.
Two, no medical, legal, or financial diagnosis — these belong to the respective professionals; BaZi does not replace professional advice.
Three, no diagnosis of psychiatric conditions — mental-health matters belong to clinical psychologists or psychiatrists; BaZi does not diagnose or treat.
Four, no stigmatising language — phrases like 'mutually harming', 'jeopardising the husband', 'hindering the children' violate modern ethics and psychology; we explicitly reject them.
Five, no replacement of the client's decision authority — 'the master tells you what to do' is not a responsible consultation posture. We offer perspectives and analysis; you are the decision-maker.
Six, no involvement in gambling, speculation, or 'sure-win' predictions — any BaZi use that encourages high-risk speculation or get-rich-quick mentality departs from our ethical framework.
4. Why We Hold This Framework
A few reasons:
One, BaZi is a double-edged tool. The same system, well used, becomes a reflective tool; poorly used, becomes an anxiety generator and a dependency trap. We choose the first.
Two, modern clients' real need is 'clearer self-knowledge', not 'accurate future prediction'. The latter is neither achievable nor genuinely supportive of growth.
Three, traditional BaZi has a history of misuse — 'this woman's chart harms her husband', 'this chart has no children' have caused much real interpersonal harm. Modern BaZi has a duty to reflect and avoid those paths.
Four, BaZi in multicultural contexts requires recalibration — Australian-Chinese clients face life situations very different from traditional Chinese society. The tool must adapt, not rigidly apply.
5. A Posture for the Reader
We also invite the reader to:
One, treat consultation as a 'reflective journey', not an 'answer journey' — good consultations give better questions, not always ready-made answers.
Two, hold your position as decision-maker — do not surrender judgement because 'the master said'.
Three, do not let BaZi replace necessary professional support — physical issues, see a doctor; mental distress, seek psychological care; legal questions, consult a lawyer. BaZi is supplemental, not substitute.
Four, your use of BaZi is free — if any session leaves you more anxious, more confused, or more dependent, that session was not successful. Please tell us directly.
6. Closing
BaZi is an ancient wisdom; across thousands of years of practise it has accumulated subtle observations of human nature and time. But its proper use will always be 'in service of human autonomy', never as 'replacement for human judgement'.
御殿命理 · 御传承 commits to this stance — to build with every reader a healthy, long-term, mutually respectful relationship.
