白露

Bái Lù · White Dew

Each year lands around 9/8 in the Gregorian calendar (the exact date shifts slightly year to year).

Three Hou — five days each

  • Wild geese arrive
  • Swallows depart
  • Birds store food for winter

The 'three hou' (三候) is the traditional five-day-each observation pattern within a single solar term — fifteen days in all.

What this term marks

Bai-Lu (White Dew). Dew condenses into pale beads on the grass. 'Yin grows heavier, condenses into dew.' Morning leaves now carry the late-autumn signature.

Folklore & farming

Southern custom 'white rice for white dew' — eating white-coloured foods today. 'Bai-Lu tea' — autumn tea harvested now, said to be cleaner and rounder than spring.

What it means in a BaZi chart

Bai-Lu opens the You (Rooster) month — Metal at peak. Metal Day Masters are at their strongest; Wood Day Masters should avoid head-on confrontation now.

Guidance, not prophecy. For reflection, not decision.
