Wealth in BaZi is not a number — it is 'a resource you can command'. It appears as salary, business, investment, or gifts, and its structure is deeply tied to your chart.

1. Direct Wealth vs Indirect Wealth

Classical sources distinguishes two Wealth-star types:

Direct Wealth (正财) — the stem the Day Master controls, of opposite polarity (in the traditional reading). Represents stable, planned, work-corresponding income. Modern equivalents: salary, contracts, recurring revenue. Indirect Wealth (偏财) — the stem the Day Master controls, of same polarity. Represents opportunistic, fluctuating, enterprise-linked income. Modern equivalents: bonuses, investment returns, side ventures, deals.

Neither is intrinsically better — only 'compatible with the chart' or 'not'.

2. Wealth Position and Meaning

Wealth stars in different positions indicate different 'sources':

• Year pillar Wealth — family resources, inheritance, environmentally-driven income.
• Month pillar Wealth — career-platform, mid-life primary income.
• Day branch Wealth — wealth via partner / intimate relationship (joint income, household economy).
• Hour pillar Wealth — later-life wealth, children's contribution, long-term accumulation.

Mere presence of Wealth stars does not equal having money — what matters is whether the Day Master can carry it.

• Strong DM + strong Wealth: money comes and goes smoothly, can both gather and disburse — classically called 'Day Master and Wealth in balance', an ideal structure.
• Weak DM + strong Wealth: capacity below resource, common pattern of 'burdened by money', 'debt-feeling' — needs Resource (knowledge, mentor, capability) to boost capacity.
• Strong DM + weak Wealth: capacity above opportunity, 'ambition without an outlet' — needs years where Wealth stars activate.
• Weak DM + weak Wealth: both lacking, hold ground rather than push, cultivate foundations first.

4. Wealth Meets Officer: 'Wealth Generates Officer'

Classical reading prizes an advanced configuration: Wealth generates Officer. Properly combined, wealth naturally converts into social position, influence, durable career platform — money producing 'business standing', not only more money.

Conversely, Officer generates Resource generates Self is another classical chain: career standing brings resources, resources nourish the self, the self can then command greater wealth — the structure of 'a life that widens as it goes'.

5. A BaZi Lens on Modern Finance

When looking at modern wealth through BaZi, three observations help:

One, income structure — does your ratio of stable income (Direct Wealth) to opportunistic income (Indirect Wealth) match your chart's Wealth structure? Many 'weak DM + strong Wealth' charts pursue high-volatility side ventures long-term and feel exhausted; strengthening the stable base often produces more accumulation.

Two, wealth rhythm — the years when Wealth stars activate via luck pillars and annuals are 'expansion windows'; constrained periods suit consolidation and cultivation.

Three, wealth and relationships — when the day branch carries Wealth, your partner or business partner significantly shapes your wealth pattern; this is not 'marry rich' but 'relationship is a key carrier of your wealth structure'.
